Re-opening the community garden

Oct 10, 2021 | News

Many of you have asked about when Macleod Organic Community Garden will be reopened for Members. Sustainable Macleod takes its duty of care to members seriously and will be taking all necessary steps to reopen safely. We are all keen to be able to get back into the Garden and the committee is working towards doing this safely and in accordance with Victorian Government health directives.

The garden

We are working towards being able to open more broadly from around 26 October (subject to 70% fully vaccinated in accordance with the Victorian Roadmap).

In line with current Victorian government health orders, the following applies:

  • Fully vaccinated members only (this increases the number of people we are able to have at the garden and for working bees to 10).
  • Maximum 10 people at one time (or whatever the number is in accordance with the health orders)
  • In addition to health orders, we will use online pre-registrations for working bees and garden sessions to ensure we can manage numbers and allow fair access to the garden.
  • Please ensure you comply with current government COVID regulations including QR check in (bring your phone!), mask wearing and distancing requirements.

As restrictions ease, we note that as MOCG is on Macleod College school grounds all adults attending the garden will need to be fully vaccinated in accordance with Victorian Government health orders.

We will keep you informed when the garden is open again and what the protocols around that will be. We will have a lot of spring jobs for working bees when we are able to do them again!

Vegie Swaps

The committee has decided that Sustainable Macleod will also not be running the monthly Vegie Swaps for the foreseeable future. We will revisit this next year.
